In 2017, the casino moved from its original riverboat into a land-based facility. The name was changed to Tropicana Evansville in 2013. Originally named Casino Aztar, it was opened by Aztar Corporation in 1995 as the state's first casino. Needless to say we left the next morning. After returning to our room more than three hours later I went to take a shower and there was no hot water Only cold water.Called the Desk who sent a service man who finally told us there wouldn't be hot water till morning. We were then told there would be no water in the room for three hour That when we went to the casino. Upon arriving,the two girls at the check-in desk ignored us while one talked on the phone and the other played on the computer. There are six food facilities on property but only one was open.We stayed at the Tropicana Hotel. Inside the casino the carpets had spots on them and the stairs going down to the next floors were dirty. Upon entering the street entrance we couldn't help notice how dirty and in much need of painting the entrance was. I’m sure someone wins but it want for us.Īlthough you can walk across the air tunnel,we decided to walk across the street which is closer. It seemed like a crowd of elderly people mindlessly staring at blinking lights, loud bells and chimes in a haze of cigarette smoke. No one was winning, no large payout kind of machine where you could win really big, no cars or motorcycles on the floor to win. It was almost as if there was a place called purgatory this was it.

IEven the housekeeping staff avoided eye contact and didn’t acknowledge when they were close. I couldn’t help but notice no one was smiling in the entire Casino -patrons or staff.

Unless you enjoy the heavy odor cigarette smoke and lots of noise, you may want to pass. All one large room and no one leaves without being smoked through and through. The gaming area was divided into 3 main areas: Smoking, NonSmoking, and nonsmoking for those who are not busy smoking. The Good: hundreds of gaming opportunities that included video slots, poker, roulette and even a high stakes room. While visiting local sites in Evansville we stopped by the Casino.
